  • WELCOME TO THE WILLOW TREE

Originally a small farmhouse and barn, and thought to have been built in 1738, The Willow Tree has been a public house since Thomas Grocock became a ‘beer-house keeper’ here in the 1870s.

Today at The Willow Tree our aim is to provide locals and visitors from near & far with well-kept, traditional English cask ales – brewed on the premises, chilled draught beers, fine wines from around the world and good-quality, freshly prepared food, served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

We care about the quality and the provenance of the food and drinks that we serve. In our menu you will find an explanation of where much of our produce comes from and of our general philosophy of using fresh, local, seasonal ingredients while supporting local producers and suppliers.

    OUR BEER & FOOD

We like to think that we do things a little differently at The Willow Tree and below are our guiding principals.

The Willow Tree is a brewpub with our own, very small, on-site microbrewery – called Handley’s – established in 2011. Brett brews a range of traditional, cask-conditioned beers (Real Ales), and at least one of them is always available on the bar.

We serve the original golden beer, Pilsner Urquell, brewed in Pilsen, Czech Republic since 1842. We also have draught Thatcher’s Gold Somerset Cider, made from all-English apples and Beck’s Vier, imported pilsner lager from Bremen.

    • We Don’t Do Fast Food – We serve quality food as quickly as we can.
We Don’t ‘Turn Tables’ – Relax and enjoy your stay with us.
We Have One Chef – All your meals are prepared by Brett, whichever day you dine with us.
We Serve Real Local Produce – Our menu makes extensive use of locally farmed meat and vegetables. Local steaks are our speciality – a choice of 3 cuts always available.
We Serve Home Made Food – Soup, Sausages, Pies, Burgers, Chips, Ice Cream etc. are all made on the premises.
We Use Fresh, Seasonal, English Ingredients – We don’t use any imported meats, or cheeses.
We Share Tips Fairly – Every penny that you leave in tips is shared with the staff working at the time.

We’re open Tuesday to Saturday evenings from 6:30pm (5:30pm on Fridays) and Sunday lunch from 12-2pm.
